1. บัวที่ตั้งพ้นน้ำ เปรียบได้กับคนที่รู้
เข้าใจสิ่งที่เรียนรู้ได้เร็ว
Ugghatitanna: a person of quick intuition; the genius; the intuitive
2. บัวที่ตั้งเสมอน้ำ เปรียบได้กับคนที่เข้าใจต่อเมื่อขยายความเพิ่มอีก
Vipacitanna: a person who understands after a detailed treatment;
the intellectual
3. บัวที่ยังโผล่ไม่พ้นน้ำ เปรียบได้กับคนที่พอจะแนะนำต่อไปได้
Neyya: a person who is guidable; the trainable
4. บัวที่จมอยู่ใต้น้ำ (ในตม) รังแต่จะเป็นอาหารเต่า อาหารปลา
เปรียบได้กับคนที่ยากแก่การที่จะสอนให้รู้
Padaparama: a person who has just word of the text at most;
an idiot
